Following 4KBW’s involvement with Acland Burghley School’s entry in the Bar National Mock Trial Competition, out of all the participants 4KBW has been invited to participate in a documentary being produced for BBC Learning by Mandrake Films called ‘Young Legal Eagles’. This documentary aims to explore the criminal justice trial process by allowing students the opportunity to take on the roles of barrister, defendant, witness and jury.

Lawrence Power and Jacqueline Caspi will continue their work mentoring students at Acland Burghley School, Camden, whilst Nicola McKinney and Timothy Salisbury will work with students from The Boswells School, Chelmsford.  Both sets of mentors will assist the students by providing specialist advocacy training and giving guidance on court procedure during their preparation for the trial.  The students’ work will culminate in a mock Crown Court trial which will be filmed later this month in the famous Court 1 at the Old Bailey before a jury and Baroness Scotland taking on the role of judge.

In addition to their role as mentors to the two teams of students, Lawrence Power and Nicola McKinney will also be interviewed to share their experience of career as a barrister.
